Each year, NFAR awards grant funding to San Diego educators to help provide for the specialized educational needs of their students with autism. Last week, we announced the 62 San Diego Autism Teachers Award recipients for the 2012/2013 school year.
The annual grant program was created to provide funding for classroom equipment and materials, as well as give educators a vehicle for implementing proven strategies that address key areas of concern for ASD students such as communication building, social skills training and reducing sensory or behavioral issues that can interfere with learning.
This year’s Teachers Award recipients are from following school districts and non public schools: Banyan Tree Foundations Academy, Chula Vista Elementary, Encinitas Union, Fallbrook Union Elementary, Grossmont Unified High, Murrieta Valley Unified, Mountain Empire Unified, Oceanside Unified, Poway Unified, RBCPC Preschool and Hope Infant Program, San Diego Unified, San Dieguito Union High, San Marcos Unified, South Bay Union, Sweetwater Union High, Temecula Valley Unified, The Institute for Effective Education, The Learning Center, TERI, Inc., and Vista Hill’s Stein Education Center.
To date, NFAR has awarded over 300 Teacher's Awards to educators across 26 different school districts, and eight non-public schools sites.
