Non Public Schools Workshop
Tuesday, October 1, 2019
This will be an opportunity for families as well as educators to gain an overview of the non-public special education schools in the San Diego area. Each school will provide a brief presentation and have a resource table with additional information.
Resource Fair will be open between 6:00 - 6:30 pm., and after the presentations 7:45 - 8:30 pm.

These meetings are for Moms to come together in a fun and relaxed setting. The group will meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month for dinner and guest speakers. It's an opportunity to share resources, experiences and enjoy being with other moms of individuals with autism.
September Topic: "Improving Social Skills Through Improv"
Did you know that your child can strengthen their social skills while having fun? Come learn how Improv is helping to do this for those with autism, and related disabilities.
Guest Speaker: Richie Ploesch, Program Director, Connections, Unscripted Learning
Richie Ploesch, M.A., BCBA has been working in the field of special education for over 10 years. His specialty is educating students and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He earned his teaching credential in 2006, a Master’s Degree in 2008, and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2009.
Since then, he has not only taught special education classes but also has taught as an adjunct professor, consulted with family members internationally, and provided in home behavioral therapy to improve social skills and increase independence.
Richie Ploesch is Director of Partnerships at Autism Spectrum Therapies (AST) and the Program Director for Connections at Unscripted Learning. Last year, he was recognized by the Daily Transcript as one of their Top Forty Under Forty

The Men’s Group is for dads, step dads, and granddads helping to raise a child with autism. We offer dinner, guest speakers and a chance to network with other men in a relaxed setting.

September Topic: Helping Others Understand What it is Like to Have Autism
Cheyenne is determined to share her firsthand experiences and opinions in an effort to give insight into daily challenges and common experiences people with autism may experience. She speaks about her strengths and challenges, as well as strategies that have helped her overcome obstacles in her life.
For parents of recently diagnosed or young children with autism, Cheyenne’s message is full of hope. For family members, and caregivers, Cheyenne’s insights will change the way you think of your relationships with people with autism. Cheyenne strongly promotes a culture of neurodiversity and invites us to see the world from her own uniquely amazing perspective.
Guest Speaker: Cheyenne Cyr
Cheyenne Cyr is a 20 year old college student, from Vista California. She currently attends Vista Adult Transition Center, takes journalism courses at Palomar Community College, works part time, and enjoys a wide variety of hobbies and interests. As a young adult on the autism spectrum, Cheyenne is dedicated to helping people understand more about this condition and being an autism advocate.
