TOPIC: Innovative ways to independence: using Fitbits, activity schedules, and more to increase conversation, participation, and social skills
Guest Speaker: Jenna Sleichter M.A., BCBA and Sophia Felix. BS Child Development
Jenna is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who also holds a master’s degree in Special Education with an Emphasis in Autism from San Diego State University. For 7 years she taught a moderate-severe special education classroom for grades K-8. Currently she works as the Behavior Specialist for a well know school district in Southern California as well as a part time lecturer at San Diego State University where she educates students in the areas of behavior, Autism, and evidence based practices. In addition she also supervises credentialed teachers pursuing their master’s degrees in education as well as Behavior Analyst certifications through SDSU. Jenna is passionate about advocating for the best education for students. Outside of the school settings, Jenna has worked in home with students with Autism and their families both privately and through various ABA companies. She has developed programs overseas for students with Autism and is the creator of different curriculum designed to increase verbal communication, conversation, and concepts of time for students on the spectrum. She recently founded UnboxedEd through which she shares these curriculum and other resources for educators and families. She is a mother of three.
Sophia recently graduated from SDSU with a BS in Child Development and Is currently studying for her masters in ABA! She began her journey in ABA 3 years ago with a private company doing in home therapy and fell in love! Recently, She works with a local school District and the behavior support team!
