Zoom Virtual Meeting

Topic: Nourished: An Introduction to Nutrition-Based Wellness for Child and Family
The foods we eat are our primary source of fuel for powering our minds and bodies. If we subsist on a diet that is heavily processed/refined, chock full of additives and preservatives, and lacking quality nutrients, we are only limiting our capacity to be truly amazing humans. If we instead chose to celebrate our bodies, by nurturing them with whole, properly prepared, nutrient dense foods… then just think of what we can become! Dr. Huarte will present an overview of the core foundations of health and nutrition, what the evidence actually says, essential steps for dietary modification in Autism and ADHD, and will provide some helpful take-away tips for transitioning to a real food diet.
Guest Speakers: Caroline Huarte, PhD, BCBA-D, FNTP, of Nourish & Flourish Holistic Psychology, Inc.
Dr. Huarte is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. She has worked in the field of Autism and Developmental Disabilities for 22 years, starting out as a behavioral therapist and spending her more recent years in executive level management of an ABA company. Autism has not been a job for her, but a calling. Dr Huarte's other true love and passion is health and wellness, with a focus on nutrition. She recently founded her own company (Nourish & Flourish Holistic Psychology) focusing on the integration of holistic nutrition and mental health services. Her services are tailored to each person's bio-individual needs, with a focus on whole-family wellness. She believes that parents should have a choice about how to help their kids labeled with behavioral issues, so they can use drug free and natural remedies to help their kids focus, do better in school, and have the best chance for personal success as they grow up.

Topic: Motivation!
Ever wonder why it's sometimes so difficult for us to teach things to our children? Do they not seem "interested"? Bored? In this training, we will be discussing Motivation. Motivation is an essential part of Applied Behavior Analysis. Join our training to acquire a basic understanding of motivation, how it effects behaviors, as well as tips and tricks to set your child up for success when learning new things. We will provide different ways to utilize motivation to improve children’s listening skills and hope that you leave this training with resources you can implement in your daily lives.

Sharla Kliebenstein, MA, BCBA
My name is Sharla Kliebenstein. I was born and raised in Oceanside, CA (San Diego County). I received my bachelor degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and pursued a Sociology Degree while playing for the Rainbow Wahine Softball Team. I first entered the ABA field in 2014, and pursued a BCBA certification by acquiring my Master degree in Professional Behavior Analysis from Florida Tech. I have truly enjoyed working with a variety of individuals, with age ranges as young as 9 months, to 18 years old. I am truly passionate about caregiver involvement, for that is when we truly see the most successful outcomes in the individuals we work with.
Katherine Poser, MA, BCBA
My name is Kate Poser and I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA. I received my bachelors degree in Psychology from CSU Channel Islands in Ventura, CA during which I began working in the field of ABA as a behavior interventionist. Since 2011 I have been fascinated with the science of ABA and the positive effects it can have across any population. I decided to pursue my BCBA by attending SDSU for my masters in special education and obtained my certification shortly after graduating. I have trained clinical ABA staff, conducted school district wide behavioral training for instructional aids and teachers, and thoroughly enjoy bringing the knowledge of ABA to everyone's lives.
