January Topic: "Things I Wish I'd Known Sooner! Tips for Parents."

We'll discuss:

  • The Importance of Self-Care + Wellness for an Autism Family:
  • Teamwork: How to create collaborative teams at home and at school
  • IEP (Individualized Education Plans): Preparing for an IEP meeting.  Learn how to advocate without ever hiring an advocate or lawyer!

Guest Speaker: Monique Haithcock, Parent Mentor and Parent Outreach Coordinator for NFAR Parent Groups

Monique is an Autism mom, Advocate, SPED parent liaison at PUSD, Certified Integrative Wellness + Life Coach for the Autism community, and Mentor + Parent Outreach Coordinator for our NFAR 2023 Parent Programs.  After 14 years of supporting the IT industry, she shifted careers to fulfill her passion of becoming a guide for newly diagnosed families.  Through her own struggles, she realized what strategies work and it is her mission to share the success stories with other families hoping to make their journey that much easier.  When she's not coaching, mentoring or running the company of her dreams, she enjoys technology, live DJ spin + charity rides, fundraising for NFAR and local charities, hosting mindtravel walks, piano, staying active, tennis, golf, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
