November Topic: Promoting Independence

Join us to learn practical and effective strategies for promoting independence in self-help skills. Carol and Kara have spent many years helping individuals with autism gain the self-help skills they need for maximum independence as well as guiding care givers in ways to help their loved ones achieve these skills. They have worked with individuals of all ages and have a wealth of experience to share!

Guest Speaker:  Carol McPheters, Ph.D., BCBA-D Alta Families, Inc. and Kara Lee, M.A., BCBA, Center for Learning and Autism Support Services

Guest Speaker:  Seth Schwartz, Esq., Managing Attorney, Brightside Law Group

Practicing special education law was a very personal decision for Mr. Schwartz, whose sister has autism. Mr. Schwartz noted that "growing up I watched my parents struggle when making the choices that affected my sister's emotional, social, and academic growth. When I think about my job as an attorney and legal advocate I always keep that perspective in the forefront."
